The Sky Dreams Story

Sky Dreams began in Hawai‘i in July 2009, but the story behind the brand started with a simple idea: make travel a little more comfortable, organized and beautiful.

After 30 years in the banking industry, founder and designer Angie Higa retired to become a full-time grandmother while her daughter was deployed to Afghanistan with the military. Within six months, Angie found herself returning to something she had always loved—sewing.

At the time, airlines were moving away from providing blankets and pillows in flight. Angie saw an opportunity to create something better: a fashionable travel blanket designed around three things every traveler could appreciate—which she dubbed "The 3 C's of travel-compact, convenient and comfortable.

That original idea became the beginning of Sky Dreams LLC.

As travelers discovered her designs, the collection grew beyond travel blankets and pillows to include thoughtfully designed bags, pouches, totes, organizers and accessories created to make traveling easier without sacrificing style.

Along the way, Angie's designs were featured in local magazines and newspapers, and Sky Dreams was selected as a local Hawai‘i designer for the Hawaiian Airlines Duty Free International Catalog, where an exclusive Sky Dreams travel tote was offered for two years.

In 2016, Angie introduced the Aloha Collection, inspired by the islands and the place where Sky Dreams began. Its tropical prints and island-inspired designs celebrated Hawai‘i and the Aloha Spirit that continues to be part of the heart of the brand today.

Giving back has also been part of the Sky Dreams story. During the 2020 pandemic, Angie temporarily shifted her sewing from travel accessories to making face masks for members of her community. Using her own fabric and supplies, she provided more than 2,700 masks at no cost, with special attention given to essential workers, kūpuna and those with compromised immune systems.

From Hawai‘i to Texas

Today, a new chapter of the Sky Dreams story is being written in Boerne, Texas.

Now Sky Dreams & Co LLC, the brand continues to evolve while staying true to the idea that started it all: creating beautiful, functional essentials for the journey.
